Welcome to Year 6

PE is on Monday. Please ensure that your child wears their P.E. kit (plain white top, black bottoms) to school, including appropriate footwear. Please ensure earrings are removed for safety reasons.
Swimming is on Wednesdays, children should come in uniform and bring swimming kits/towels in a bag.

Your child will also be using Times Tables Rock Stars and will be given login details for this. This is to support their timetable knowledge with quick games that can earn them points to change their avatar.

Please make sure that your child is reading daily out loud as well as to themselves. It would be really helpful is you could support your child with their fluency but also asking questions about what they are reading to ensure that the children are understanding what they read. Please record this in your child’s reading diary so that they receive the relevant rewards.

Our spellings will be posted on Class Dojo, can you please ensure you are looking at these with your child.

Please ensure your child is in the correct school uniform, this helps promote the Moorhill way and helps prepare for high school....
Blue jumper or cardigan, white shirt or polo shirt, black or grey trousers, skirt or pinafore dress, black shoes (not trainers)

Make sure your child has had a good nights’ sleep, they are ready to learn and have had breakfast.

Please be interested in what your child has been doing at school, encourage them to be inquisitive and follow their ideas through to a natural conclusion.

Please ensure that your child has a named water bottle in school and it contains only water. To encourage a healthy lifestyle only healthy snacks should be consumed at break time.

Autumn

Our Autumn term topic is 'Cannock Chase'.

We will be investigating different maps, and completing orienteering activities in the school grounds.

We welcome any extra learning that takes place at home including projects around our topic. You may want to do some research into Cannock Chase and what it is used for. We would highly recommend taking your family to Cannock Chase so your child can experience this for themselves.
