Last half term, Year 2 showed great enthusiasm and curiosity across their learning. In art, the children designed and built their own Ferris wheels, focusing on stability and creating a working axle. They worked carefully and creatively, testing their designs and making thoughtful adjustments as they went. In science, we observed caterpillars over a number of weeks as they transformed from chrysalides into painted lady butterflies, giving the children an exciting opportunity to witness a life cycle first‑hand and record changes over time.
In history, we learnt all about the Victorians, exploring what life was like for children in the past, including schools, jobs, games and houses. The children were fascinated by the differences between Victorian times and life today. In maths, we have just completed our unit on measure and capacity, developing confidence in comparing, measuring and problem‑solving using practical resources.
